A new group of companies for railway contractors has been formed. Rovik aims to bring together players in the subcontracting tier within an industry with significant growth potential. "There are many driven players out there," says Sofia Sartor, acting CEO.
Earlier this week, Rovik Group was launched, a new group that will bring together players with both breadth and specialist expertise in railway infrastructure, specifically MBEST (track, power, signal, and telecommunications work, as well as groundworks).
The group, backed by investor Aspira Partners, has already brought seven companies on board (five of which have been presented so far) with a combined turnover of nearly half a billion.
The management team includes familiar names. The Chairman of the Board is Svante Hagman, and the acting CEO is Sofia Sartor, who has spent many years in senior positions at companies such as Strukton. The timing for investing in the railway sector could hardly be better.
– The needs for investment and maintenance are significant. At the same time, there are a great many companies where many players see the benefits of joining a common platform and being part of a larger context, says Sofia Sartor.
The idea is for Rovik to bring together subcontractors who are usually hired by the major railway contractors and construction companies. The companies will continue to operate under their existing brands with the same management.
– The large companies have many subcontractors involved, either as pure resource staffing during peak workloads, for specialist expertise, or to carry out part of a larger project. I believe that our ability as a group to coordinate and offer more services can make things much easier for them, says Sofia Sartor.
The plan is for Rovik to grow steadily. More companies are already on their way in.
– This is a long-term commitment, and we carefully select the companies we believe will be a good fit.
The entrepreneurs themselves play a major role in building the company, both by reinvesting in Rovik after the acquisitions and by helping to establish the platform and determine its direction. Sofia Sartor explains that there is interest from small and medium-sized railway contractors in joining a larger group.
– Many feel a bit lonely in their business operations. Together, we can collaborate on everything from business and leadership to training and safety issues, she says.
